For the first THIS IS ME 2014, A LA MODE SYDNEY is honoured to showcase the intriguing fashion blogger Raluca Stoica. A young woman with an abundance of talent and a veracious appetite for fashion, both of which have contributed to the incredible success of her international fashion blog A Stairway to Fashion.

The Beginning

I was born in 1980, Romania.

Being the only child I was quite spoiled by my parents, but everything within the limits so I never had the “everything is for granted” attitude, so during my studies in economics I had all sorts of jobs, from accountant to editor for a beauty magazine. This until I finally started doing what I loved – working in fashion.

Modelling Career

Fashion always fascinated me so right after I completed my degree in economics (2003), I left for Milan, where else if not in the most fashionable city?! The head of my modelling agency, when he first laid eyes on me, told me that I will get to do fitting for the biggest names in the fashion industry and it happened indeed.

For seven years now I have been Gucci’s house model, doing fittings and, before that, l did fittings for Prada and Miu Miu. I consider myself extremely lucky. I still go to my job everyday as if it’s the first day. I get to see the entire process of creation, from a simple sketch until the final product – it’s like going to Marangoni (one of the most prestigious fashion schools that prepares highly skilled professionals for the fashion and design industries) over and over again. I’m working with fantastic people, it’s never boring and it is so fulfilling on so many levels.

The Future

2014 is a year of great expectations for me, as for everybody else I’m guessing. The future is often looked as one of the most uncertain things in the world and it has good reason to be, for none of us have any idea of what the future will hold, no matter how much one tries to plan it. But I think that as long as you put passion in what you do, the future can’t hold anything other than passion for you, and success, and excitement.
